Shaing Shaing U Nini

Shaing Shaing U Nini is a dedicated academician and community leader from Bangladesh who combines her passion for education with hands-on work in development and social empowerment. She has been coordinating the Department of Business Administration at Bandarban University since 2019, where she not only plans and teaches but also connects what happens in the classroom with real-world challenges.

She stood out early in her academic journey, earning first-class first position in her Master of Commerce along with a Bachelor's degree in Management, and completing her master’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning from La Trobe University, Australia. In 2007, her excellence was recognized with a prestigious Australian scholarship worth over 1 crore taka, awarded by the Australian Government.

Shaing Shaing believes in bridging theory and practice. Over the years, she has worked closely with government agencies and international organizations to shape policies and programs that align with global goals like entrepreneurship and regional economic development, gender equality, quality education, and sustainable development. This work helps bring positive change to communities, especially in areas like tourism, entrepreneurship, and women’s empowerment.

As a Certified ILO International Master Trainer on Gender and Entrepreneurship, she trains and supports entrepreneurs, particularly women, to build sustainable businesses. She also founded PEACE, a grassroots organization focused on empowering women in the Chittagong Hill Tracts region.

Earlier, as a District Tourism Development Officer with UNDP, she played a key role in promoting sustainable tourism in Bandarban, helping communities grow while preserving their ment and culture.

In her time as CEO of Gateways Australia, Shaing Shaing managed international student recruitment projects valued at hundreds of crores of taka. She helped many Bangladeshi students access education opportunities in Australia, the USA, and the UK, guiding them through admissions and visa processes with care and expertise.

She has also led numerous projects funded by respected organizations like the Australia Awards Program, the British Council, and the ILO always focusing on sustainable livelihoods, gender equality, and indigenous community development. One of her innovative projects includes the Kolaboti Saree, made from banana fiber, which has attracted national attention for its eco-friendly and culturally significant approach.

With her unique ability to connect academic insight with community action, Shaing Shaing U Nini continues to inspire change by turning knowledge into impact building a better future through education, policy, and grassroots efforts
